Pro Tips
- •Use heavy blur (40+ pixels) to fully censor faces, license plates, or screen contents that should not be readable.
- •Light blur (5–15 pixels) works great for background blur to make subjects pop.
- •The blurred image is a NEW file — EXIF data and metadata from the original are stripped automatically.
- •Blur is irreversible — anyone receiving the image cannot un-blur the sensitive parts. Safer than redaction with rectangles, which can sometimes be reverse-engineered.
- •For region-only blur (just the face, not the whole image), use the Background Remover instead, then layer with photo editing.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is my photo uploaded anywhere?
No. The blur is applied entirely in your browser using Canvas. Your image never touches any server.
Can someone reverse the blur?
No, properly applied Gaussian blur is mathematically lossy — information is permanently destroyed. Unlike a black rectangle, there is no way to recover the original pixels.
What image formats are supported?
JPG, PNG, WebP, GIF (first frame). Output is PNG by default to preserve transparency where applicable.
Will the output be the same quality?
The non-blurred parts retain full original quality. The blurred regions intentionally lose detail — that’s the point.
Can I blur multiple photos at once?
Not in this tool — it is designed for single-image precision. For bulk blurring, contact us about a batch tool, or use a desktop tool like ImageMagick.
Image Blur vs Alternatives
Image blurring is offered by many tools, but most either upload your photo or are buried inside complex photo editors.
Photoshop / GIMP
Desktop photo editors
Key difference: Powerful but slow to launch and complex for a simple blur. Overkill for hiding a face before sharing.
iOS / Android built-in markup
Phone photo editor blur
Key difference: Limited blur intensity, no preview before saving, and quality varies by device.
Online blur sites with uploads
Various cloud tools
Key difference: Convenient but they receive your image — risky for sensitive photos (medical, legal, ID documents).
Live in-browser preview, full intensity control, instant download, zero uploads. Built specifically for the "I need to blur this before sharing" use case.
