Split Large PDF Into Smaller Parts for Email or Upload

Got a 200MB PDF that won't email? Split it into 5 manageable files in seconds.

Email caps, upload limits, and printing logistics all push you to split large PDFs. Maybe you need to email a 200-page document in three parts. Maybe a portal only accepts one page per upload. Maybe you're printing and want to test page 1 first. Browser-based splitting handles all these.

Step-by-step

1

Open the PDF Splitter

Launch the tool. Drop in your large PDF.

2

Pick a split mode

Common options: every N pages (e.g. every 50), specific page ranges (e.g. 1-25, 26-50), or one file per page.

3

Generate the split files

The tool creates multiple PDFs based on your settings. Each one is a fully valid standalone PDF.

4

Download all parts

Save each split file. Name them clearly — 'Document-Part1', 'Document-Part2' — so the recipient knows the order.

Frequently asked questions

Will splitting reduce quality or strip content?

No. Splitting is just extracting page ranges into separate PDFs. Each split PDF retains identical quality, fonts, embedded images, and metadata from the original. No re-encoding happens.

What's the best split size for emailing?

Aim for parts under 25MB each — that fits Gmail and Outlook limits. If each split is still too big, combine splitting with our PDF Compressor on each part.

Can I split a password-protected PDF?

Use our PDF Unlocker first to remove the password, then split. Most splitters (including this one) can't read encrypted PDFs directly.

Will the recipient see them as one document or separate?

Separate. Each split is a standalone PDF. If they need them as one document on their end, send the parts in order and they can use our Merge PDF tool to recombine — or you can re-merge before sending if size allows.
